About Watauga Lake Winery

Watauga Lake Winery is located in the Appalachian High Country American Viticulture Area (AVA). Award winning estate wines are produced from the grapes grown at the wineries vineyard, Villa Nove Vineyards. Walk through history as you visit the classrooms of the historic Big Dry Run Schoolhouse that have been transformed into the wine production area, tasting room and event center. Enjoy our deli selections as you sample local wines from local vines.

Awards

Watauga Lake Winery was awarded the coveted "William O. Beach Award in 2015 - Best Tennessee Fruit Wine. Since 2014 the winery has been awarded 3 Concordance Gold Medals; 4 Gold Medals; 7 Silver Medals and 6 Bronze Medals for wine produced from grapes grown at Villa Nove Vineyards in Butler, TN.

Directions

From Butler, TN, continue on HWY 67 toward Mountain City. Turn right on HWY 167 and continue until HWY 167 turns left at bridge. Cross bridge follow Lakeview Drive -becomes Dry Hill Road. Follow Dry Hill Road to Big Dry Run. Turn left on Big Dry Run 1 mile to winery on left.
From Boone, NC: Take HWY 321 toward Elizabethton, From TN line proceed 3 miles to Gregg's Branch Road. Turn right on Gregg's Branch Rd to dead end. Turn right and cross bridge. Turn left after bridge and follow to Big Dry Run. Turn right on Big Dry Run - winery is 1 mile on left.
